Working with you when life gets in the way

Life has a habit of throwing things in our path that completely derail us. But while you're dealing with the things that have taken you off track, your home, your chores, your bills and your life admin take a hit. And it's fine for a while ... until it isn't. Life admin, paperwork, chores and to-do lists are just one more thing adding to your stress levels. Many of life's trials and tribulations are things only you can deal with but luckily the Life ADDmin team can lend a helping hand when it comes to administrative matters.

The Problem

Sarah was working full time in a stressful job when her Dad got poorly and had to go into hospital for months. Her Dad had been spending a lot of his time caring for her Mum who had mobility issues. As well as looking after her kids as a single Mum and holding down a demanding career, she needed to find time to visit her Dad in hospital and liaise with medical staff regularly as well as stepping in to the caring role for her Mum.

Her employers were very understanding and for a few weeks she managed to keep all the plates spinning until it became clear this was going to be her new norm as her Dad failed to recover. Although she knew she was doing the best she could, all the demands placed on her were taking a toll in her home. Bills were piling up, important emails were being missed and she was constantly fire fighting. She had always been an organised person particularly at work but there just weren't enough hours in the day to get everything done. Her priority was to find long term care for her Mum and Dad and to make sure she wasn't haemhorraging money with unpaid bills.

The Solution

Sarah called us and was embarrassed to be asking for help as she had always been so on top of things her whole life. We assured Sarah that our role was to get her back to her organised self and a few imple changes would facilitate that. Sarah could work from home during our sessions and could be available for some decision making and security clearance for phone calls. We discussed how we could help and came up with a master plan of priorities.

  • Researching care providers for her Mum and coming up with a shortlist
  • Seeing what financial support was available for her parent's accessibility needs
  • Sourcing tradespeople to do some adaptations and upgrades to both her and her parents' homes
  • Sorting through both her and her parent's paperwork to create a workable structure
  • Identifying an urgent list of to-do's
  • Making administrative phone calls where needed
  • Setting up a digital task manager to track one off and repeat tasks
  • Doing price comparisons to make savings on some bills

After just a few sessions together, all the jobs were completed and tasks ticked off the list. Care providers were in place, accessibility aids were installed, bills were up to date and savings had been made. But the biggest win? Sarah was able to spend quality time with both her parents and her kids and felt calm and in control. That's why we do what we do.

The story above is just one example of the many things that need to be done in life. The diversity and range of tasks that we can help with is endless. Think of us as solution finders, We'll rise to a challenge and there's not much we've not been asked to do over the years including rehoming a dog and filling in an online dating profile!
